National Sausage Pizza Day

Celebrate National Sausage Pizza Day (yesterday) AND Pork Month with this quick and easy Pour Pizza!  This recipe is great when you have a craving for pizza, but do not want to roll out the dough!

POUR PIZZA

corn meal

1 onion, chopped

1 lb. of Italian sausage or hamburger

1 tsp. salt

¼ tsp. pepper

1/2 tsp. oregano

1 cup flour

2 eggs

2/3 cup milk

15 oz. pizza sauce

2 cups mozzarella cheese

Grease a 9 x 13 pan.  Sprinkle lightly with corn meal.  In skillet, lightly brown hamburger and onion; drain.  Season with garlic salt, salt, and pepper.

In a bowl, combine flour, oregano, eggs, and milk.  Stir to form a smooth batter and pour into baking dish.  Crumble meat mixture over batter.  Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Spoon pizza sauce over meat mixture; sprinkle with cheese.  Return to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes.

I have added pepperoni on top of sausage/ hamburger.  I think mushrooms and green peppers add flavor too!

Harvest continues to move along!  Tonight I was at church when I got a text from Kate offering to bring supper out to the field!  She definitely earned brownie points with this future mother-in-law tonight!!  Speaking of the lovebirds – here is their picture of the week!  This was their Sunday afternoon project.  Jacob’s famous quote, “I only planted a few hills!”
